Only consistency regarding the spelling of English words…

Why does “vacuum” have two u’s, but “spectrum” doesn’t?

What is the fucking difference? (One “u”).

Do the laws of the English language exist on a “spectruum Silver 21“?

ESL.

I like to do things good.

The U sound is different between the two (vacuum has an oo sound while spectrum is short) but it has to do with the original Latin words they came from (vacuus and spec + trum). (I apologize if you were not looking for an answer it is hard for me to tell).
